Description:
FAEA members are invited to a hands-on Mixed Media & Mindfulness Workshop at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale. This engaging session blends creative expression with mindfulness techniques, drawing inspiration from contemporary artists who use layering, collage, and found materials to create dynamic, process-driven works. Participants will explore various mixed media materials while fostering a deeper connection to the artistic process through intuitive mark-making and reflective practices. Whether you're looking to refresh your creative practice or discover new strategies for integrating mindfulness into the classroom, this workshop offers an inspiring and rejuvenating experience. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with fellow art educators in a dynamic and reflective setting!

Facilitator Bios

Lark Keeler is a visual art instructor at NSU Art Museum and Saint Andrew's School, connecting mind, body, and spirit over the past 23 years through art experiences for learners of all ages and abilities in schools and museums. Ms. Keeler was awarded the FAEA Museum Educator of the Year in 2010 and Elementary Art Educator of the Year in 2022. She has participated in the National Guild for Community Arts Education Leadership Institute and the NAEA School for Art Leaders. She is certified in Mindfulness Fundamentals and as a MindUP Educator. She is the owner of Lark Keeler Art Studio and chair for the NAEA Caucus on the Spiritual in Art Education. She has served in many capacities for FAEA, including President and NAEA delegate. She participated in NAEA working groups, crafting adopted platform statements concerning reaching students experiencing trauma, and utilizing quality resources to build curriculum.
