About the Artists:

Charlie Parker set his clay career spinning in 1967 at age 14 when he worked as a part-time clay-mixer at Minnesota Clay Company. As his passion began to flourish, he chased it to the studio of Warren Westerberg, working as an apprentice and molding himself into a master of form and expression. Today, Charlie has a 3,600-square-foot workshop for classes and open studio time. Under his guidance, aspiring artists of all experience levels make their own projects from wheel-thrown to hand-built.

Laura Irmis was born in the mountains of wild West Virginia. At age one, she was uprooted and moved to Florida. She was adopted and raised by her grandmother in Saint Petersburg, Florida. She grew up in a vibrant home with a love of music and art plus, a fascination and admiration for art practices. As an only child, she found trust and solace in creating art and listening to music. While working towards her B.A. in visual arts from Eckerd College, she continued with her passion as a guest artist with Creative Clay and was the artist-in-residence at Craftsman House Gallery in 2006. She is a ceramics instructor, studio manager, technician, and curator of the beloved Trust Birth Art Show among other local art exhibitions. Now, as an educator with Pinellas County and mother of three young boys, her work evolves and her narrative expands with the urge for balance and harmony in her ceramic and abstract paintings.
