Frequently Asked Questions about the FAEA Conference
Do I have to be an FAEA member to register for the conference? No, you do not need to be a member to register but the non-member cost is higher. Members may renew their membership during registration. Non-members are not eligible for any other FAEA programs throughout the year such as the Florida Student Art Assessment, the Member Virtual Exhibition, etc.
Are there additional fees required for attending workshops or special events at the conference? Yes, there is an additional cost and registration required to attend hands-on workshops and special events such as the Awards Breakfast.
Which workshops and events are included in my registration? All Art Forum sessions, Demonstration sessions, general sessions, keynotes, receptions, and access to the commercial exhibit hall are included in your base conference registration fee.
Do I sign up in advance to attend the Art Forum sessions? No, the Art Forum and Demonstration sessions are included in your conference registration so you can just show up and enter the room with your conference badge. Seating is on a first-come-first-served basis, but the rooms should be large enough to accommodate all who would like to attend.
When will the Member Virtual Exhibition (MVE) Members be recognized? The Member Virtual Exhibition (MVE) will be on display each day at the conference, and the MVE Awardees will be recognized at the Reception on Thursday evening at the Museum of Fine Arts.
What is the Awards Breakfast? The Awards Breakfast will be held on Saturday, 7:00am-8:00am. This event honors the 2024 FAEA Award recipients, such as the Florida Art Educator of the Year. The event will begin with a hot breakfast followed by the presentation of awards to this year’s honorees. There is a fee to attend the Awards Breakfast, and you can purchase tickets on the "Additional Items" page of your online conference registration.
What is the Saturday Night Imagine Magical Market Event? We are planning an informal interactive and collaborative social art-making event combined with the artist bazaar. This alternative event was designed in response to membership requests for a hands-on art-making event so that all of our Member artists can enjoy making art with friends in a fun and engaging setting, alongside the ability to purchase art created by our members. We will be featuring one of our keynote speakers as a guest artist for this event! Materials will be provided along with light snacks and a cash/credit bar. There will be no dinner served, only very light snacks. We recommend eating dinner before you arrive.
Why is there not a Gala this year? Due to inflation and the already high costs of food and beverage service at this hotel, we would have had to charge so much for tickets that we anticipated only a few members being able to attend. It is our hope that the collaborative art-making event and bazaar-style art market described above will be more affordable and allow all conference attendees the opportunity to participate.
Is the conference schedule in FAEA’s fall Fresh Paint the final schedule? No, the conference schedule that will appear in the fall Fresh Paint is still subject to change. For the most up-to-date schedule, please see the online schedule or the conference app.
Is there a certain hotel I should stay at if I am attending the FAEA conference? You should reserve a room at the conference site, the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront. Visit the FAEA Conference Hotel page for more information.
