FAEA listened to your feedback and has updated the conference session formats so members can learn more content and gain extra experiences at conference. Now you can take more ideas back to the classroom.

  • Demonstration Session (30 min.) - demonstrate a topic through an exploration and investigation of an art technique that will inform and inspire
  • Art Forum (50 min.) - share a topic through a presentation that will inform and motivate
  • Workshop Session (90 min.) - lead a "hands-on" experience that demonstrates an in-depth art medium strategy or process

New for 2019: Learning Pathways

At this year's conference, FAEA will present new learning pathways to align session content with its strategic plan AND your school's improvement plan.

Each session proposal should align with one applicable learning pathway from below:

  • Research & Knowledge:¬†exploring research-based pedagogy, assessment, curriculum connections, educational research, strategies, and historical content and context
  • Learning: discovering and experimenting with new techniques, skills, materials, and technology
  • Community: collaborative learning experiences, panel discussions, special recognitions, connecting with colleagues, and teacher support and retention
  • Advocacy: cultivating support for the arts and for individual programs through exhibition opportunities, voice, volunteerism, leadership opportunities, and addressing equity and access

Session proposals may also be submitted as "Other" for consideration.

Providing handouts is the responsibility of the presenter. FAEA does not reimburse for the cost of reproducing handouts. Please provide a sample copy of your handouts with your proposal for the selection committee. All presentations, handouts, lesson plans, images, etc. must be original or have written copyright permission to use them. See Copyright.com for more information.

Audio/Visual Equipment

FAEA will not provide any audio visual equipment. Each presentation room will have a screen. You will have to bring any equipment you will need to present, i.e. LCD projectors, slide projectors, laptop computers, extension cords, adapters, etc. Meeting rooms are not equipped with sinks. Bathrooms with sinks are accessible near all meeting rooms.

No Internet Access

Internet access in Hotel Conference Rooms is extremely expensive, and therefore FAEA is unable to provide internet access to presenters. Please plan your presentation accordingly.

Reimbursement for Supplies

Reimbursements for supplies will be provided to presenters of the "hands-on" workshop session (90 min.). Details of reimbursements will be finalized in May of 2019 and will most likely be consistent with prior year's reimbursements.
